Combating Youth Extremism
Why Do People Join Extremist Causes?
There are many factors in why people join violent causes. In Jordan, leaders have discovered a correlation between unemployment and recruitment to extremist causes.

of highly educated women in the country are unemployed.
Lack of opportunity and the resultant economic insecurity is widely accepted as a major factor in the disproportionately high ISIS recruitment rate in Karak, where it is estimated that 200 youth were recruited in the year 2016 alone - a year which culminated in the attack on the Karak Castle killing 14 and injuring 37 civilians, tourists, and police.
Where We Are
The peace and security for which Jordan has long been renowned, is being threatened by increasing economic frustration, which is in turn damaging the stability of the country and the strong family ties that hold the area together. Perhaps the greatest challenge in Jordan's education system is the skill gap the system has created.

We provide vocational education and peace-building training to at-risk populations in violence-affected regions of the world. With this in mind, we are committed to addressing unemployment among youth and refugees in Jordan, who are at-risk of recruitment into violent causes.
We have 10 schools across Jordan, serving a total of 200 students. In addition, we teach peace-building to Central American refugees in Arizona and advocate for peace at our Montana headquarters.
Where We Are Going
We aim to have 1,000 schools across the world, each addressing unemployment and poverty in the region.
